OMG this is beyond stars and comments, my friend. This is stirring. It read as if the He was God for a bit, then I realized it was a soldier, and still it reads as if you/she is talking to God...I love, absolutely LOVE, this one. :)

Thank you very much indeed jeslaf. Your comments are stirring! As are those shiny six stars I have to say; but it's the comments that go with them that makes a review exceptional and something to remember. Bless you xoxoxoxoxoxoxxo

I cried. I'm crying still. I began as a understood someone would not hold and love then it was a soldier. OUCH. This is an awesome poem one I shall cherish as I've printed it out to keep and re-read.

Well, I've had some very encouraging comments for this poem, but yours actually caused ME to cry! The fact you thought enough of it to print it out and re-read is like being published, and in some ways, better. Thank you oledihard (great name!!), very much indeed. You have no idea how your words have bolstered me up this day xoxoxoxoxoxoxo

What a sad yet sweet story - the joy of a new life mixed with the sting of a lost love. Too many soldiers never make it back in time, or back at all. Thank you for sharing this with us.

You have such a fine talent for rending the heart into little pieces. The sadness is restrained here, but still manages to invade the deepest senses. Great poetry. Well written MiLady of the Alpaca.

Hi alpacalady...this is a doleful poem and the picture you chose to enhance the words is perfect and beautiful. I wonder how many soldiers never made it home to see their child....way too many, I'm sure. You wrote this piece very well. It has a good flow and wonderful word choices...well done.....blessings....chey

Hi Cwis
'glorious, colourful song' - lovely and original metaphor.
Not sure of repeating 'belly' - it's not the most poetic of words unless used as originally here, as a metaphor.
Well, this is your serious side eh? Very dramatic repetition and of course a heart-wrenching tale, well told. Good to see your versatility. Love, Ray xx

I come from ten generations of military service and there are thwo more generations entering the tradition. I cannot recall the numbers of men and now women who never came home. Who will never know their children, who will never know how their contribution is shaping the world. I thought this was a gorgeous ode to those who will never come back. Nice one.
