Hi, Gary. I sense a woman here who married a farmer and was promised all sorts of happy things for the future and is now "trapped" in an existence of work, work, work. Good job if this be the case. One can feel the frustration. Bob

Poignant. This poem is so very true for many
'cowgirls' (aka housewives.) Ah, the things
he promised they would do and now Walmart -
an eye opener, for sure.
Great poem!

Excellent, Gary. In fact, I would venture to say exceptional... but you'll have to accept my virtual six! LOL. You demonstrate a true depth of understanding here. Pat.

The composition flows naturally, with an easy rhythm that I imagine resembles this cowgirls easy gait. Your description of everyday life, and the natural evolution of a relationship ring true. 'Endure' has a negative connotation; I really cant tell if our heroine is happy or unhappy. But I guess that also lends authenticity to this portrait. Very well done

This poem speaks of cowgirls and the life some must endure, but truth be told it is an example of many a woman's life, cowgirl or not. I found this to be a well thought out, well written poem. You tapped into a subject that many think about and few speak of.
Nice work.

Hi Duane,
Even though I'm not a cowgirl, I think you just described my life. How I hate to shop at Wal-Mart LOL. I think you did a great job with this poem.

Hello deepwater,

Being a cowgal is not an easy feat and being a mother is even harder, especially in the world we live today.
I felt the sadness from within from the following:

Her life has changed from days of old
when there was just the two

also: Her life she must endure

A poem of sadness and yearning for what use to be.

Regards, LateBloomer

This is charming. It reflects, cowgirls or not, the everyday mundanes of life; not necessarily in a bad way. It just contrasts what our young minds dream what our lives will be like and what they truly turn out to be. It makes me smile.

Wow, what a sad poem, when someone must 'endure' rather than the stage of life they are in at the moment. Motherhood and all it encompasses are great equalizers.
Well written and emotional, with good flow.
Warmest regards, Marijke
