Excellent Poem! Congratulations again! You are so
gifted. This is a vivid description of the rape. I
like the last line - it left me wondering what happened next! Thank you for a poem that is so well written.
Hope you had a wonderful day......harmony13

A very powerful poem about a horrific act. A worthy winner. I found Leda and The Swan a compelling and disturbing poem.your sonnet form works well. Your descriptions have an immediacy to them. Good work.

Thank you so very much Mary and nice to find someone who has actually read Leda and the Swan.

Wow. This is absolutely amazing. This poem captures everything tragic about rape and makes the reader feel captured into the poem and can't stop reading until the fate of the lady is told. Job well done!

Very profound, and all too true. Been there done that...I could feel her fear, pain and shame. The visuals were overpowering.

Sobering verse. It brings a sad scene to mind. I mean the one you painted here. My wife, a much more prolific reader and considerably better educated than me, just told me all about Leda and the swan.
Look forward to more.

I had been away from the site for reason .missed on your poems.A very powerful writing on a very bold subject. Great work.Few more lines with the type of expressions that you write can still be added.

I am an instant fan of this piece! I had to read it twice because (frustratingly) i wanted to know everything that was to happen as quickly as i could. Every line demanded more and more attention. i read it again to take in the detail. i loved how it jumped straight into intenseness! the last 2 stanzas i found had such a sad, beautiful quality to them. Im glad you commented on my poem, because it led me to your work. thank you.

you sound disappointed with its success?
reply by the author on 27-May-2012
No not at all. I'm pleased as punch. It just makes me wonder why people like the dark side so much. Easier to handle I guess.
reply by DeVilleDarling on 27-May-2012
Hmmmm, its an interesting question. I would say that it is easier to handle, and also that it helps to appreciate the light. Also, your adrenalin doesnt really start pumping when you read something pleasent.
reply by the author on 27-May-2012
Well it depends on what is pleasant. Once you get to read mine I thing you will change your statement. LOL.

I see you and I want to cry because i see me standing there watching it. Because I know. No one knows how you feel. Jesus, why did I have to read this now. And now you know why my six cylinders spin. And I'm black sometimes. Know this Guns, I've taken your six. I'm that ugly fucking threatening thing know one wants to know. Now you know why in my mind I'm ready to kill things. Breathing so deeply, beside you.

Oh dear. This didn't happen to me. But it happened. You know how it happens. Not to worry for me anyway. I'm protected in that you are there ... beside me.

It happened to me, my wife. It's okay. But I guess now you know me.

Loved this poem, it is so dark and edgy, I am a huge fan of the darker side to poetry. Picture complements the poem well

a powerful well-written poem. It deserves to be at the top, well done! Maybe charities involved in crisis centres would appreciate it too?
