This story is well told - in spite of the actions behind the storyline. I totally agree with Perlene and the feelings she had about all this! Fargo is a great movie and I think we all wonder about that money! ~patty~

What a funny story, Susan. I love the movie Fargo, and this does have that tone to it, doesn't it? Great visuals - I could see this guy trying to wake Billy up and then discovering the money and then having the suitcase ripped open by the snowdevil. And I loved his inner thoughts, like when he anticipates his wife pitching a fit when they get in so late. Great narrative voice, quirky humor - I really enjoyed this story, my friend. Brooke :-)

Hi there Brooke! Me too, and I am just thrilled that you enjoyed this! I have always hoped they would make a Fargo part two...but, the good ones they never do! So, I decided to solve the money in the snow myself! HA! Thank you so much Brooke!! HUGS! Susan

My nephew even had a yellow lab named Fargo after the movie - people in my family have good taste. LOL

Ha-ha Susan, this is downright humorous. You've painted a character too in the narrator, when he got the suitcase full of money. (I think I catch one twenty dollar bill just now ... :))

Hi Belinda! Thank you so much! I wish you could find some unclaimed cash! And me too! Wouldn't it be fine? Oh well...and listen, once, when I was pregnant, 9 months along a friend of mine and I had been shopping and we stopped at a burger joint. She ordered sandwiches and when she paid, the money went flying in the wind...I thought it was a twenty, when in fact is was a five...but I took off RUNNING after it, for a long way, and my son came then, just two days later! ") I thought you would get a kick out of that? I was so dumb!! ") Susan
-
Ha-ha, so your son's birth was quickened by the five dollar bill ... :) Thanks for sharing this humorous episode of your life.

It was! I also had my friend drive thru the potholes in that same parking lot too! I had had enough of that humungous tummy...")

Susan,
you are good a dark humor in your flash fiction stories. In a minimum amount of words for a maximum effect you've established a setting, conflict, and a resolution to your story. Your dialogue is excellent. It serves them right for driving drunk in a snow storm. What a bunch of stooges. The reap what they sew. Your art work of the old car is great. I really enjoy your writing. I love the dark humor.
Melissa.

I guess better go ahead and get home because Perlene is still going to be really angry. I don't think Billy will be too happy being left in a ditch.

I loved the Dark humor of Fargo, too, but had forgotten about the money being stashed in the snow bank. Your work is funny and ironic. Your visuals are great, and the photo embellishes the story well. The emotion is good, and at first I found it a stretch that he would be so quickly willing to say "Easy come easy go", and then I remembered he is drunk. I like the last line best.

Well done, Susan..good flash fiction! Setting, conflict and resolution is clear. Your two characters (three if you count that snowdevil!) are well defined for flash. I marvel at your ability to select interesting situations for your little stories day after day. I'll have to plan a car trip through Kansas in the spring...lol

Hi Carol! Thank you! Oh and be careful...if you go through Louisiana, they are notorious for keeping your vehicle if you speed or just roll thru a stopsign. Seriously. Just be wary. They just sell it too, no getting it back. AND watch for twisters Carol. Gee, I hope you will be okay. Let me know how it goes? I can't wait for spring, but with it comes the storms! ") Suse

I'm teasing you, Suse. I'll be looking for that money...lol

This is a great story . It starts out serious and ending up funny as 'ell. Serves them right for getting drunk. Perlene would really kill him if he ever tells her what happened. Very good writing and great imagination. You should start compiling a book of short stories. Anne
