Wow. These ten words provide an image and a story. With so few words we know that a girl was supposed to have a birthday--something tragic happened. And someone is remembering; mourning. It made my heart sink. Nice writing. Sad story.

Thank you for this exceptional It means a great deal to me. I'm so glad you "got" the message of this little story. It is about grief and mourning. The loss of a child is the worst.

My 'she' would have been twenty-nine on her last birthday and being reminded of it once a year is hard enough.

Sorry, to have brought back bad memories. But we all have them, so I'm not apologizing for this. The contest requires ten words, and I've lost people as well as you have.

Your poem certainly touched me today. In our town a girl that age stepped out and was killed by a truck. She will never be twelve, too. Your little work is put together nicely, conveying the thought much more civilly. Good choice of words and meets the demands or it. Thanks Chap Man
