Very good Dean.

Good take on this prompt. Believable and well written. Can't see anything to change.

Good luck in the contest.

Loved the story! Would you believe I was listening to "Radioactive" when I read this?! It was very well written and I would not change a thing. Are you going to add more? By the way, I haven't been on this site in a while, what is the deal with the "Are you human" thing on the reviewing word processer? Great job and keep up the good work!

Hah, I'm not sure about the "are human thing", Katie. It's probably just because you've been away for awhile and the site needs to determine your identity. But, I'm not for sure on that.

What I am sure about is how much I appreciate you reading and reviewing this story for me. I not sure about adding a sequel, but it could happen. I'd never considered it before now.

    Thanks so much again!

Hello. Well, this is certainly a vivid story of the end of what we know. Poor dang dog. Oddly for me it is our domestic animals I feel sorry for at the 'end'. No one to survuve after we have set them up to be dependant. And no doubt like this story'e edning, it may not always be for the best.

Thanks, padu, and you're right. I feel more sorry for God's little creatures (especially dogs) than I do for mankind. After all, we're the ones who will ultimately cause the mayhem.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me, and for an excellent review. I appreciate it.

This story was terrifying. I cringe at the idea of dogs eating people. And to think that he had escaped the devastation of the world falling apart, only to be killed by a dog he had saved, and to be devoured by the pack of dogs answering the howl of the ungrateful creature. Great use of irony.

Great use of the quote from Radioactive. And Dead End is a very effective and clever title.

This is a great entry for the topic, and for flash fiction. Thanks for a terrifying but great read.

The doomsday scenario is a horrible one. But I guess, we can't escape it. Rich or poor, young or old, no exception. I can accept it if it's really God's. But with the HAARP weather modification theory - the product of sick-minded people, I think it is more terrifying than the wrath of the gods.

I agree, bulletski. It is terrifying. We are our own worst enemies, polluting our planet to the point of turning her against us.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this!

Hi,

Yeah, well, you gave me a good chuckle. After all that he gets ganked by a dog. Good one. Like a guy surviving the war, but slips on a roller skate as he's walking up the stairs to his house for a homecoming party and breaks his neck.

Word order >>> 'Soon, all the was SPAM devoured.'

I was very much entertained. Going from world ending to prison inmate is the last man on Earth adventure was fun.

Thanks so much for posting. This was fun. Good luck in the voting.

Christian

Thank you, Christian, and thanks for that editing note as well. I'll take care of that right away. I wrote it very quickly, and just sneaked it in under the wire before the dead line. I really appreciate the feedback!

Wow, scary piece. Very discriptive and I could see and feel the mayhem in my mind. The twist at the end with the other dogs circling, keeps the horror going, Bravo,Judester

You're a little unfair here. Just when there appears to be hope for the prisoner hero, you have a rabid dog tear out his throat. I liked the sci fi explanation, just plausible enough to get a non science type like me to get into its possibility. The prison escape narrative brought humanity to the piece and set up the final shock. Excellent prompt entry.

Hah, yeah, it is a bit of a cruel ending. But, when packs of wild dogs and he animals take over, knocking us humans down a notch or two on the food chain, well...it could happen.

Thanks for an excellent review, mfowler. Much appreciated!
