Bill, this is true. Some times I look at the computer and see a blank screen. AND, at other times, I can write a warm up story, then the words and memories begin to flow. Great thought provoking piece. Carole

Heh-heh, all that, and poor Billy realized he lacked structure? Well, it's often said that practice makes perfect, so maybe that will come to him over time. The more he writes, I'm certain the better he will get. Repetition, repetition, etc, etc...
Good stuff, Bill.

Ah, Billy, you have certainly described what it's like when inspiration bursts upon the writer and his cramped hand can't write fast enough. Indeed, the images, the words, the ideas flood the pages. And suddenly, when the rush is over, we're left with what? unstructured chaos.
This was a fun read because I, too, have been there. Thanks for sharing.

The whole idea is to put those ideas down in front of you. Then you may shape and sculpt them in the manner you find necessary to implant your thoughts in motions of words garnered. This was a well written poetic voice that I enjoyed reading and writing this response for... John

Hey, can I borrow your magic pen that sets words afire? This is a fun to read poem with great imagery. Nice free verse style with a bit of rhyme.

Bill;
I really enjoyed reading this poem so much because of this excitement I had and surprise I had at the ending.
Your imagination was truly inventive and very creative and where your imagery was demonstratively descriptive and exceptionally expressive throughout.
The poem more I can say you had me going there.
Thank you for sharing am posting this for everyone to read and may all your endeavors be good ones.

Really great poem about inspiration lacking the discipline to put the words into a coherent framework. It could also describe an person suffering from ADD.
A surprising ending, to be sure. However, I think all writers, no matter how skilled, have felt this feeling at one time or another.
Well expressed - well done.

A free-style type of poem
that perhaps speaks to all
who seek to write words
that will shine out from
the depths of what is in
one's heart, but lack the
requisite knowledge to structure
such thoughts from mind to paper.
Well done
