Hello poet friend. I enjoyed your poem and tribute. You might want to try Fanmusic.com. I have a couple of my songs one there.
Also, I have a poem on Fanstory I posted a while back titled, "An Old Soldier" you might enjoy it, it is similar to his one here. God bless, Loyd C. Taylor, Sr.

I will look into that one. Thanks for your comments and support. I may even try to put my collection of lyrics into a book of poetry. Something else I have frequently considered doing, and one of the reasons I am posting them on this site, to see how they play along those lines. So far many people seem to believe in them and that is encouraging. So, you never know. Have a lovely FanStory day.

That sounds like a plan to me. I also have a lot of my poems and songs on my personal web site, if you care to check it out. www.poemsnsuch.com
You are welcome, Loyd

I will do that and get back to you about it.

Lovely. Nice tribute to veterans as only a veteran can understand. My town has an honor flight to see the monuments in Washington. There are fewer and fewer of the greatest generation left. Each generation(sad to say) has their own war. Your touching lyrics are so moving and they transcend the generations. My favorite phrase is: 'star spangled night' 'old man i want to thank you for the life you gave to me'. GOD BLESS OUR VETS

This is another excellent piece of lyrics and it is evident that you are very proficient writing these songs. I like the repetition of the first verse in the last verse and the alliteration strewn around, like Star Spangled and a few more. Great work indeed.

I enjoy this very much even though it's sad. I think of the nonsense those bad kids are doing in Baltimore it makes me so mad.
When I was reading you poem in my mind I could heard Johnny Cash singing your song. LOL

I want to thank you for keeping the west free from dictatorship. I salute you and your fellow brothers in arms. I enjoyed reading this poem, and found it very moving. Thank you for sharing.

You are a great story teller and I can hear the music when I read your songs. I can feel the pain of the hard living, hard drinking man that really just wants to do the right thing, but cannot resist the temptations that draw him in, Bravo judester

It's a nice dedication to a war hero and Vets everywhere (by virtue of the poem, your Grandfather)...America's Greatest Generation. The beach strikes me as Normandy, but there is no specific indication of that.

A sad story which represents so many fallen vets, not only in the USA but also in Canada and around the world. It's a tribute to those who gave so much that we might live free. Thank you for remembering them.
The rhyming and rhythm cause the words to flow along and help to east the pain somewhat, of those often forgotten heroes, many whose names we do not know.
Well done.

I appreciate your tribute to an 'old soldier'. There have been so many times and so many people who walk down the street without really giving any thought to the concept that "freedom is not free". Thank you.
