You did well in telling the story in the poem, Aussie. I thought that this was an excellent piece of writing. Your writing flowed well and I couldn't find anything to critique. Good luck in the contest...Jacob

Very well done Kay. Every country has their honored dead
and it is so sad Yet so apparent that no good ever comes from acts of violence. I had never heard of Anzac troops. I learn something every day! Good luck my friend. Good story in a poem. :<) Nancy

This is a lovely story in a poem, about all the men that gave their lives so that we could live in freedom. They should never be forgotten, though if they could see the world today, they must be crying. Well done, my friend. Good luck in the contest! xsx Sandra.

An excellent movie of that era and the war in Turkey comes to mind: The Lighthorsemen. I don't see anything I will recommend changing about your excellent quatrains.

The Light Horse were mainly in desert places like Beersheba. In Gallipoli our men were slaughtered because they were below the cliffs where the Turks had the advantage. Thank you, Kay.

Lovely poem. Everyone should make an effort to not forget any of those that died in all the wars from all countries. Excellent work with this one.

We should never forget the men who died in those atrocious World Wars, whatever the continent. It is good to highlight how grateful we all are for the price they paid for our freedom. Excellent story line and rhyming. I spotted an error, verse 3 should read reveille. Good luck in the contest. Faye

DearestAussie,
This is a perfect entry into the pome in a story contest. As usual your flair for didactic poetry in rhyming form is remarkable. You should teach your countries history. Love you work my dear friend... jimi

This one strikes a chord with me as I salute those who keep memory of sacrifice alive. So much loss is further lost when memory fades of what real people gave to keep us going.
