Isn't that often the way...? Our finished product isn't always what we set-out to write.
A very good job. I like the unpredictability of how many lines and syllables will follow each line and verse. There's a deep message, and I think the ending (the parting of ways) is profound.

This poem seems to flows well.
The rhythm seems smooth to me.
The word choice is good.
Over all it is a good write.
