A very well-written memento. Easter egg hunts were fun when we were children but we also know the real Easter message. These days the Easter egg over shadow the real nrssage of Easter.

Hi Sandra,
I know the message. From the NaPoWriMo standpoint I wanted to feature Beatrix Potter. And the Memento requires a holiday in the format, so I took the position of a childhood memory. Thanks for the gracious review.

Thanks for this delightful memory of Beatrix Potter. It wasn't part of my childhood but I did an art lesson about her. She had a lonely childhood and she often spent time alone as her parents didn't have much interaction with children. That's how she studied animals so well. Great use of this interesting poetic form!

I just loved Peter Rabbit when I was a child, actually as an adult too. What a lovely poem and excellent tribute to such a talented woman. I have always admired her determination to get her books published. She insisted they be small books and got a lot of flack for that too. But she won out in the end. I enjoyed this one immensely and love your fascinating and informative notes, as always.

Oh wow I had to read the notes a couple of times to understand it and it sounds simple but I realized how hard it was to write. Very well done piece on Easter tradition

Kim,
What a perfect poem for Easter. I enjoyed reading it. I remember these stories from childhood. Even today, I love the watercolor of the illustrations.
You did a great job with the potlatch practice [hmm, whatever will you write Saturday? But I know you ALWAYS have a multitude of ideas waiting for you to write them to share].
Your notes were great & so informative. It is super to recall some of these beloved author/works.
Good job & thanks for sharing. Jan

Hi Jan,
I enjoyed reverting to childhood today. It was a nice memory, and I think that is the key to a smooth memento poem. I've always enjoyed Beatrix Potter, no matter what age. Her illustrations and stories are timeless. Thank you for the wonderful comments. I appreciate you :)

Hi Kim. I used to love Easter as a child. Painting eggs and hunting for hidden chocolates and candies was so much fun! Your sweet Momento poem brings it back to me. Such wonderful childhood memories. I used to love reading Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit.
I've never seen this Momento form before. Thanks for introducing me to this form. I think I'll give it a whirl sometime.

Oh my gosh, Kim! I don't want to put another thing on my plate right now. I wish I could, but I am having a tough time just keeping up with doing a poem a day and all the reviewing of the posts of the others in NaPoWriMo contest. I underestimated the amount of time that would be involved with it. Although I'm having fun, admittedly I am already counting down the days to the end of the month. What was I thinking? :)

I understand that. You can put your Potlatch piece in the NaPoWriMo book like I did :)

Oh, this is a fine poem that brought back Easter memories. While I read Brer Rabbit and not Peter Rabbit tales, I thrilled at the Easter egg hunt:
When eggs we'd color, bold and bright,
or pastel, like the Spring
flowers,
then they were hidden out of sight;
what joy the hunt would bring
for hours.
You filled your poem with joyous Easter memories. I hope today's children can enjoy the same. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Andre,
I hope today's children can break away from their video games and other forms of electronic entertainment to create some of the memories in the fashion that we cherish them from our childhood. I loved Brer Rabbit, too! I think I loved all rabbit tales, even Watership Down as I got older.
Thank you for the fantastic comments and for quoting back the Easter egg hunt stanza of my poem.

Hi Marilyn:
This style gave my brain some comfort, taken in the form of childhood memories today. I let Poetry Potlatch choose my form for me. lol I'm so glad that you enjoyed this selection. I've always loved Beatrix Potter. I think she has tremendous appeal for all ages. I'm looking forward to reading her stories to Cooper, as I read them to Josh. Thanks for the great comments.
