I used to carry his book of poems with me. Lately I have read about his era in House of Spirits. If you like Isabel Allende, her best is 'Daughter of Fortune'. I love your poem and would have a better rating for it if I could. The illustration is fitting.

I don't know much about Neruda - In fact - until I read this poem, I'd never heard of him, but I see that his life has made an impact on you and certainly on others. I love this Free Verse. It is exceptionally well written, and I love the juicy way you make your words do double duty. Truly exceptional - Wordsmithing is something of which you are a master .

Very many thanks, Rose. Wonderful to receive the validation of your six stars for this poem. Always appreciated! If you want to read some of the best wordsmithing in the world, take a look at Neruda. Even in translation from the Spanish, it is music to the ears. Best wishes, Tony

Perhaps, I shall. I find my reading time is rather short these days. Long story.
I do enjoy great poetry, so perhaps I shall make that effort soon. Rose.

A very well-written poem about a man that choose to join the communist party and have to avoid his normal lifestyle in fear of being brought to justice for his choice.

Pablo Neruda is one of my favourite poets, I,m just in the middle of reading a book of his love poems, but he had so many strings to his bow and through his political sway he often fought for the underdog.
An excellent write and fitting tribute to an amazing person.
Have a great evening

Another perfect portiat, painted in words of rhythm and rhyme so illuminating that I can only describe this awesome poetry as a work of art

yeah, Chile, it seems such a long time that Chile was a no no if you had an opinion that didn't conform with them. A wonderful poem. It says it all. I remember reading about Pablo Neruda. You've composed a lovely poem in his memory. All the best. Ulla:))

I like the flow of this free verse, and the phrasing/wording is outstanding.

Especially - "and cause avalanches amongst the stone-hearted" - Great description of melting hearts.

I'm afraid I don't know much about Neruda, but I know more now than I did, thanks to you. 8-)

Nice poem about Neruda describing his poetry in all its manifestations, especially his sonnets (I think), especially at the end. I love love Spanish, but I have always been partial to Castilian Spanish. For some reason I have never really warmed up to the Latin Americans. I do Sor Juana Ines, Marti, and Alfonsina Storni, as poets. It might be that so much of Latin-american literature has a heavy religo-political bent that I find distasteful or it could be that it is so very surrealistic and leaves me scratching my head. I will have to investigate further, as I am likely to find something I like. Nice biographical poem that does justice to sum total of this man poetry. .

I appreciate your dropping by to review this one, Donya. Thanks. Neruda was a fine poet - one of the best, in my opinion. I felt a bit diffident about writing a poem to honour him! I understand your reservations about the coarser form of Spanish spoken in Latin America though. Thanks for pointing me in the direction of other Spanish poets. Sadly, I am only able to read them in translation. Best wishes, Tony
