Such beautiful writing to depict autism. It brought tears to my eyes. Very moving. I have a grandson that was diagnosed with autism this year. The things that he builds with Legos is nothing short of amazing. Really hits home.

You give us the sense of both sides of being 'on the spectrum' for your grandson, his fear, and your tears of emotion as John finds his passion in Lego. Thanks for sharing, and good luck in the contest.

Hello anon, this is a lovely poem Grandpa. Your little grandson John will be just fine - he is just marching to the beat of his own drum. Your loving words in this poem are very moving and show how much John means to you. I have a nephew, a young man now, but similar to John and he has opened his own business now. As a boy I marvelled that he played the piano and never ever had a lesson in piano playing. There's a place for us all in this world - good luck to John. Warm regards Dorothy x

Eternal Muse the world of Autism is one that presents many untold stories of families that find themselves in place with more questions than answers and more unknowns than that which is known - today Autism is reaching far deeper into our society with cost that will be become shocking to all.

It is a strange world for these autistic children and these poor kids require a lot of understanding and care so that they can adjust in society. Learning to navigate this world is hard enough, but for these kids it is even tougher, your poem explains in detail how they suffer, a fine write, love Dolly x

I'm sorry about your grandson John but you should be proud of him. Many people with ASD have special talent like John. They went ahead and became a super talent for the society.

My mother has mental illness and she made me a writer because writing helped me to overcome the miserable life she caused me.

What difficulties families must face when this condition's behaviours needs to be accommodated. You've written a heartfelt poem with the voice of experience. May John be OK in the world as himself.
