Amazingly, I thought immediately of Robinson's classic poem "Richard Cory"--
The antithesis of " Ol no name"-- being of wealth and high breeding. Still as we know, he "put a bullet through his head." Your story is tragic... and plays out in ever increasing numbers of deaths each year. A stark reminder that the "loner" we perceive may be "lonely." Excellent write!

Hello Willie,
It was a joy to read this poem about Ol' No Name. What a story. I loved it. One wonders why he would off himself, if he never really seemed to care about being around people. Well done.
Have a blessed evening.

A great story! I loved reading this. It is unique and well-told and has good rhyming all the way through as well. The meter is not as perfect as it could be, but the story is so interesting, I doubt anyone will care. I wish you the best in this contest. MM

This is a remarkable poem. I wish I still had six stars left because this poem deserves it! Congratulations on creating something that speaks volumes through playful rhymes. Good luck with the contest.

Your contest entry reads well. The story plus the picture pair nicely. Your lines read smoothly with good end rhymes, smooth flow, and great imagery. Ol' no name had a story to tell, but no one seemed interested and he didn't bother sharing it. It's sad to think he wanted it that way, but we never really knew if that was the case.
Best wishes in the contest.
Respectfully, Jan

Wow, I give you a VIRTUAL SIX stars but unfortunately, I can only give you five stars because I'm out of sixes!
The words flowed perfectly fine together throughout the entire piece and were not forced at all;-) The imagery was spot on!
Thank you so much for sharing this well written piece with us and may God bless you and your family this New Year;-)

This is a clever and creative poem. Your words create a clear scene and the reader feels bad for this man alone. Excellent western poem that reads like a mini movie. Your two line verses are smooth in rhyme and have an almost musical feel to them.

Good rhythm, flow, and a great story!
Raised on a ranch near Reno, NV. Had a lot of this type of character in the old days, called them 'Drifters,' they never said much, smoked Bull Durham and rolled their own. They were mostly good cowboys, stayed and worked at the ranch for a while, then one morning were gone, but they never stole anything to take with them, just their own gear.
Cheers,
irish
