I never thought of it like that, but, you're right! we are the biggest abusers of our own bodies, and we do it regularly! Goodness me! That's why I'm a physical wreck now!! Lol. I'll have to give it a bit of TLC, and hopefully it won't give up on me yet. I enjoyed your poem, it was an eye opener!! :)) Sandra xx

Sandra, Thanks! oh yes, if I had known the cumulative abuse, I might have made better choices for my old body. 🤔🤔🤔

The tone of praise is most evident here --a feature some I've read have lacked, and so essential for an Ode!

Perhaps me? A subtle veil of eye-twinkle in this one???

I may be projecting... as my own aging body creaks upon morning rising!

Lloyd.

Your name? Nickname? A needed rhyme?
You have me curious!

Karenina

My middle name so surprised it fit the rhyme scheme. 🙏🙏👍big smiles back on this satirical ode to my too often aching body.

    JLR...

I guessed Lloyd was your middle name!

Loved this satirical twist on the all praising reverential ode!

I'm still in awe given the wear and tear my "old vehicle" has endured, that the old jalopy still kicks over when I turn the key!

    Smile.....

This is a very interesting and very well written poem you have penned. You used very good descriptive words and very neat imagery from the art work you chose. I enjoyed reading and reviewing this. Blessings, Teri

Thank you for raising this to attention. It's such a gift! The Ronsardian Ode (which I hadn't heard of before) seems a perfect match for your subject and sentiment. Nothing but praise from here! Thanks!

Based on your title it sounds like this poem is about your body? It's a little confusing with the name at the end. Is that your name? Did you name your body Lloyd? Other than that bit of confusion, I really enjoyed this poem. There's something fun and whimsical about it. Our bodies really do wonderful things for us. Great job!

very original - at least I'm not familiar with another ode to one's body.
Though I think you are serious, it did make me smile, I guess because my body is saying enough already, give it a rest and my physical therapist is saying do these exercises everyday!
Anyway, I enjoyed your ode. It gave me a new perspective. :)

Just saw that you're from Flat Rock. I have a good friend who has a place there and I'm sure her family all come at times. Her name is Sally Walker Hughes, brother Butch and sister, Gracia. I don't know their kids' names, but just thought I'd ask. You might know them. It'd be fun if you did. We all used to go waterskiing in the backwaters at St Simon's Island.

Even as small as the Village of Flat Rock is, I regret that the names do not come to me as familiar. We just returned from St Simon's Island, where we stay a few times a year in route to Florida to visit one of our families. We love the Iguana restaurant!

It's been a long time since I've been to St Simon's. We used to have a house there many years ago - lots of fun. Don't remember the Iguana, but it may not have been there then.
    Small world, huh? :)

I hope I get this correct. It sounds like you are talking about a great horse. Either a show horse or a race horse. I love horses. They are beautiful animals. In the day, they worked hard. They pulled wagons full of items and people. Many horses are overworked. Thank you for sharing.

They do work hard.

Love horses but it is satirical in that I call my body Lloyd who does all the heavy lifting. 😀

The human body is a miracle of nature, the superdurable container for our soul. We should be grateful for being able to walk, run, live. Thank you very much for sharing your poem.

You get my six stars just for tackling this format! Wow. So many rules! And still you managed to make a point with content that we can all identify with. Really well done.
