Hi Jim,
This is a well done free verse which shows both sides of a story that this picture can evoke. The thanks one has for having a loving mother and the sadness caused by knowing you did not. This is a good take on the picture.

This was a wonderful read. It was intriguing. Word choice was excellent. It reminded me of being lost in thought. I enjoyed how you put out examples of what some may see- it was a creative approach. Very nice work!

You are correct. A picture can present a thousand questions. Who are the people and what brought them to the picture. Your poem expresses this thought so adequately. I like your introduction in the first stanza, where you describe the scene before stating the possibilities. Enjoyable, and well done.
