Ali seems to be settling in nicely at the ranch and with the locals - she'll fit right in when she and Cord get married.
The sentence, "He handed her it and kissed her" sounds awkward. "He handed it to her"?

No this isn't the last one. There are 5 more chapters broken each broken into two parts. We have two trials coming up and a little more drama. Thank yu for you for the kind review.

There's that exchange about the fire between Cord and Ali, in which she tells him she blames herself and he absolves her of that. Hints of wedding rings, and that conversation between the women at the end where they seem to be pressing Ali a bit for how deeply she is involved, as well as hinting at how aloof he has been in the past. Good tension between characters, I like that push and pull between Ali and Cord and the girls who used to know him as well as the mom. She seems to be hanging back a bit. He seems to want to press ahead. So we have to see how this sorts out. Good suspense at the end of this chapter. estory

I'm concerned that Ali is always in some kind of crisis and dependent on others. She's always in need of rescuing or looking after. I hope we'll see again the side of her that defended the women Pat had abused. Maybe she'll be stronger now that Alan is out of the way, and she has definitely learned from her experience with him. Great scene with the women. They are grateful to Ali and are interested in her relationship with Cord. Looks like an engagement may be on the way! Ali's ready to move forward now. At this stage in the week, I'm afraid I'm out of sixes but this was definitely worthy. judi
