It is not too long. I think it would have been considerably weakened in terms of the story-line if you had chopped it. As it is it is a story within a story, coherent and with a point. As to the romance, it is subtle and often acted out by the dogs, but it is definitely there. kay

In answer to your query about someone saying there's no romance in this, my answer, bosh, all your stories have romance, that's always the result of your stories Barbara. It's just not sloppily written, they are strong women in your stories, so well done, Emma's got a lot of people looking after her, beautifully written, blessings Roy

I think any shot at romance is teetering on the rim of a champagne glass. It could go either way at this point, his past and age, her immaturity have been stumbling blocks to date.

Let's see what this mission brings to the story and their friendship.

Good chapter,
John

A great read, as usual. Sorry, I am a bit late. Been a bit busy and I know I need to get back to writing, myself, sometime soon. I see the subtle romance threading through.

Excellent chapter. I would love to take Sunny to church. He often comes to Bible Study with me, and just lies at my feet. I didn't time myself reading it but I thought the length was fine.
I think there's romance, the old fashioned kind. These days if couples aren't in bed by the second date they think there's something wrong.
The romance is slow to be recognised by each and bloom into action but they are getting there!! Well written.

Hello Barbara,
I'm enjoying the story, but I'm having a bit of difficulty keeping all the characters straight. There appears to be a lot of actors in this play, including the dogs. Somewhere along the line I guess I didn't follow why the sheriff has to go somewhere. Perhaps it will make more sense in the next chapter. As always, your dialogue is spot on. Well done gal.
Have a blessed evening.
Tom

Tell the naysayer to put a cork in it. to me it oozes with romance. Some unintelligent people mistake sex for romance. There is an entire world of difference between the two. Another good chapter. Karen

Tell the unromantical folks to buy a soppy bodice ripper.
You do things just right. Karen

This is one of your best chapters. Seth's upcoming mission leaves the reader in suspense. The length of the post is fine. There is romance here, but you are dragging it out. This may be a good thing. It keeps the reader anticipating the next chapter.

Enjoyed everything about it. The heroine, the plot, the crisp clean writing. I know I haven't been dropping in, but I'm glad I did. And I also loved the song. In addition, the way you stroke in the dialogue and description keeps it going forward.

End of Pastor Pat paragraph, "ask Ace TO sit beside you."

Should it be Apostle's Creed classes instead of Apostle Creed?

I always enjoy the dialogue you write for these stories, Barbara.

As for the romance here, it is romantic but in today's fiction I'm sure it doesn't move fast enough for many readers. You have your own style, and people read your work because they like your style.

See you next week.

Thank you for the corrections. I double checked on Apostles' Creed. It did need an ' and s, but after the word. I now have it correction. I appreciate your encouragement.
