Sounds like a very lonely life. You did a good job on rhyme and rhythm and your picture selection is great too.
Good write! B

Interesting blending of the way life used to be and the way life is now for the Texas cowgirl. Love this: "Her cowgirl ways of pearls and lace replaced with the Wal-Mart store."
Best regards, Jeanie Mercer

Great poem. It really spoke to me. The life of a cowboy and cowgirl is not easy. That person has to really love the land aand animals. . Being a ranch family is a dying breed. Being from Oklahoma , I love reading poems like yours. Great job. Wonderful imagery, Shirley

Yes, it's pretty hard when the father's gone off for a period of time, leaving the mother with children, household, chores, etc. My father was in the Army and was frequently away from us for long periods, but Mother held the family together :)

Life is never easy and we always must make tough decisions. Living ones life on their own terms can be tough but also so rewarding. I felt your poem communicated this. Well done

This is an interesting poem, almost a
lament about the cowgirl's life disappointments.
"her fancy ways long gone with age".
An enjoyable read this evening.

Very good poem. I like the part about pearls and lace being replaced by the Walmart store. I can relate to that. Well done.

This is a great way of comparing the old with new, putting the old ways in a favourable light.
Very good flow and you can really feel the nostalgia.
