Dear deepwater: this is wonderful work in pure understanding of reality and truth. I enjoyed this very much as it touched my heart and my mind. Blessings and thanks: HIS GRAYNESS...Vance

This philosophical write is well expressed and filled with the wisdom of experience.
As an example of a prose poem, it tends more to the prosaic side. But there is a sincerity in your words that is most appealing.

I rate this a five for no reason other than that is all I have on hand, but I am sure you feel the exception poem stands in exception value, you give a rounded and true vision of friend, thanks for sharing.

I love the photograph you chose to use with your story. You are correct in that we very often do not know just who our friends truly are. What I've learned with age, is that having one true friend, who will always be there for you, is better than having twenty, who's friendship is only surface deep. Good luck with your writing.

With upmost respect, I see no poetry here, even free verse which, IMO, needs certain poetic devices to differentiate it from prose, such as alliteration, metaphors, vivid imagery and perhaps a little random internal/external rhyme.
However, it is an excellent and interesting commentary on the ups and downs of life, and how to best face and deal with them.
Best wishes, Ray

This part of your thesis "We die with the understanding of wisdom needed to survive" seems to be saying that we are qualified to begin living when we are finished. I like what you have here.

This is a thoughtful piece you have penned down here but I don't understand how the picture is related to the writing. Enjoyed reading this original and thoughtful piece.

This is beautifully written and conveys a thoughtful message. As we move through life, we are confronted with all types of people and personalities. We are lucky if we can find a handful who are really special, ones we can trust and who add meaning and depth to our lives. This is very well done. Best wishes. Alana

Yep, life is pretty much a turd sandwhich nd then to top it off you get stuck with a bunch of jerks for friends. Ask Job he can tell you. This is vcery good and really speaks volumes of the human condition. The only thing, I would suggest is shortern each of first line, they seem a little much as they are. Just a thought, still a great poem.
