I enjoyed your haiku. It was not what I expected, so it was much better. You have a wealth of ideas for your writing. I enjoy your writings. Good job and thanks for sharing.

Quite a play on words with your haiku
Glad I read your authors note
I didn't know you could grow a live money tree.
Why does it lean to the right?

Hello Gert, It naturally leans. I do turn it around to let the sun move the direction of the plant but it still wants to lean. :)
Thank you very much for the review.

You are welcome Gyspy
Your plant sounds like my Rosemary small tree.

You have captured the significance of an object, in this case a humble money tree.
I love the last line, "Leaning to the right" - they all do, don't they! hahar

Hi Gypsy
I guess we could all use a money tree, eh? Actually, I didn't know there was such a thing, without the bills, of course.
I'm trying to make some sense of it.
"money tree in spring/so easy to grow and feed"... Could this mean that we spend money like crazy when we're young, buying houses and cars, bringing up children and all that expense, trips. When we're older, the kids have all moved out and got married. It's just the pets in our retirement years, a simple life.
"leaning to the right" ... Could this be the debt load we take on? We always rely on banks, don't we? They've got the money, just as long as we can make the payments. But there's a limit... somewhere. If we aren't careful, we can go bankrupt.
This is a poem to think about, and they are the best kind.
I'm not sure if this qualifies as a haiku. I gave up on them a long time ago, too many rules! The Haiku Police always caught me, and pulled me over. Recently, they kicked me out of a contest! But haiku contests are such a magnet.
Thanks for sharing. You've got the syllable count right.
cheers

Hello Kimbob, Thank you very much for the review. The money tree is a beautiful plant and I was admiring it and observing it was leaning to the right. It is an observation of nature thus it is a satori. No political statement. The kigo is spring.

Yes it is easy to grow and look after. Would you believe it, i have got four massive ones in my house. But my wife looks after them.
They are nice, always green, now and then shedding a yellow leave.
I like them.

Thank you very much for the review. I am so glad you can appreciate the beauty of the plant and know what I mean. Most people think it is about money and it is not.

I could definitely use a money tree, but you know how I am with plants. I wonder if it would be easy for me to grow one. You have a perfect 5-7-5 syllable count. Lovely presentation. Are you absolutely sure there isn't a hidden political message in this? judi

Thank you very much for the review. No political statement, I was just observing the plant leans to the right. I have one in my livingroom.

Too bad it doesn't actually grow money, lol. This is a great poem and I liked the authors notes as well explaining the plant.

This brings back to a saying my Mother had. "I don't have a money tree growing in the garden" I was not aware there was such a tree. If a plant leans to the right then turn it around 180 degrees and it will grow straight.

Thank you very much for the review. Yes Mary, I do turn it, but it still leans to one side.

A lovely haiku GBR in 5/7/5 form. Good author notes, I might have thought it a political statement without them. Lines l and 2 interconnect well. Good luck in the contest. Warm regards Dorothy x
