This is a wonderful free verse, full of emotion that comes straight from heart to pen.You mention so many battles, so many ongoing, and I personally thank you for acknowledging -the A-bomb blew our aggressors to hell - my Dad was one whose life was saved from the living hell of being a Japanese POW. This deserves a 6 but I have none left. Thanks for sharing,

A beautiful poem saluting and honoring all the soldiers who have fought for freedom where ever they've been needed. All gave some but some gave all. For that I praise them and thank their service!

I like the internal rhyme in this free verse poem honoring the heroes/veterans of all wars. It is sad that we still fight wars. I bet we all hope that in the near future we will no longer go to war.

Thank you to all the Vets for their service, they should be honored daily. This is a brilliant (Ten star)piece you have delivered here, my friend.We are only alotted six stars here. This part, in particular, hit me hardest.

Salute, Commando! Thank you for this excellent tribute to our fallen since the Civil War. My ancestry is kept by me, and I had blood relations die on both sides of the First Battle of Manassas. My parental line was easiest to trace as they were high ranking officers. I come from a military family and I thank you for this outstanding tribute today. Their sacrifice and courage should never be forgotten or disrespected. For my brother, Steve, a decorated Vietnam Veteran and Green Beret!
Sending you and your family my best today as always. Thank you with all my heart for your service.

This is an EXCEPTIONAL, heartfelt free verse poem worthy of more than the 6 stars I am allowed to award it, Commando. Your words are beautifully written with great emotion flowing from your heart to your pen. The art work selection is perfect--representative of the theme and echoing of your words. It encompasses all of what heroes face in their service in all situations. I was engaged from start to finish as the art drew me in and set the stage for your AWESOME free verse.
The entire poem speaks volumes about the service--past and present of our Veterans. These lines are standout choices:

"Will others follow at a later day? Will other heroes fight and die, and if so, Why?"
These lines embody our heroes who bravely fought so that we (I) can be free today.
