This chapter is fast-moving and held my interest to the end. The characters are strong and the dialogue is excellent. I'm looking forward to reading the next chapter. Shirley

Very many thanks for your review and the six stars, Geoffrey. Thank you for the spag catch. I accidentally cut-and-pasted those closing paragraphs from an earlier draft. All fixed now. Best wishes, Tony
Comment from estory
The pace gradually quickened in this chapter as Charles goes on his journey, and then really ramps up right at the end when he confronts the man with the ak47 and jumps him, bringing the butt of the rifle onto his head, and I was a bit surprised to see him ready to slit his throat. It seems a little out of character for a travel writer. But then we have Charles' sense of compassion as he spares the man when he opens his eyes. But what will happen next? Will there be a fight? Was it the right decision after all? estory

Thanks for your review and comments, estory. Yes, cold-blooded murder would be right out of character for Charles. Perhaps it will turn out to his advantage that he spared the man. All good wishes, Tony

Wow, that is a really good write. I don't know what I would have done if I'd been in quite the same situation. Now, what is to happen next is high on my expectation. Where on earth are you taking us next? All best. Ulla:)))

Very many thanks for your review, Ulla. Sorry for the late response. I've just got back from spending a week with my daughter up in Queensland. I'm a bit behind with reviewing, too, but hope to catch up soon. All good wishes, Tony

Wow! I don't think it could get more exciting than it could, reflecting back on where the story has come from, and the relatively easy going chapters of the beginning, I'll bet he'll be musing on the circumstances Charles had inherited.up to now, what's he going to do with a live quarry? Seeing it is that he can't just kill him in cold bold. A very exciting episode, blessings, Roy

First I laughed hard reading this :"My life as a travel writer and food critic had left me with a paunch of which, in more civilized circumstances, I was justifiably proud." Just so you know there is a small typo civilised should be civilized. Anyway I found this chapter funny, because a travel writer is in charge of a rescue mission : I will kill you with my wittiness and my pen.
