Moving, the rhyme gave your poem a light touch, the combination set a nice tone. It's theme, we should all take away a lesson, we are all in this world together. Who knows if they played a part long ago as well.

Paul,
This story flows well and speeds by because of the shorter lines and the easy aabb rhyme scheme. Those boys do a wonderful thing for that old lady to take her loneliness away and let her remember better days. It is a random act of kindness and a grace for all of them.
I think what the last stanza says is a defininte fact.
Good luck in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Merry Christmas
Joan

Thanks, Joan. That old lady was my mother, and the boys were my grandsons. I embellished a little.

Is a story worth telling an embellishing. It is good when family help each other in this way.

Oh yes Paul, the greatest gift we can bestow on people is the one thing we can never never redeem, on can earn money, ot be given an unexpected and thoughtful gift, but time, that's different, especially for these old people, hang on, I'm becoming one of them. Beautifully and compassionately written Paul, an skilful and well written piece, blessings Roy

This is absolutely beautiful and well written. I worked many years in a nursing home and know the loneliness that exists in those facilities. This poem really touched my heart, thanks for sharing with us. :)

Thanks, Boogie. This was real. The boys are my grandsons, and the lady was my mother. I added a little, here and there.

You go. The poem structuring is very strong, loving the poetic jingle throughout its read. A delighting, touching story capturing the true spirit of all holidays. This is my given opinion.

You did really well here. Short lines of reality in which many will, have and indeed, if not, will have someone near that can relate to this. This time of year we think even more of this kind of reality, a reality that awaits many.
I wish life had another way of taking control.

Well done.
My very best wishes.

This was a nice story telling poem. And the fact, that you were trying to receive blessings is what it's all about. Nevertheless, I think it could have been a little more subtly creative. But you did your thing, and that's what counts. Keep killing it.
