In medicine (I was a nurse for many years) the learning method is see one, do one, teach one.
Your poem reflects a similar outlook to this.
Thank you for sharing this simple yet impactful poem

Thanks, Tim, for passing on the info on the way of teaching in nursing to help others learn by paying it forward. It is good to know that nurses help each other learn by example.

Ciao,
Unity makes strength. In the animal world, they have learned the lesson.
We consider ourselves superior yet on the big scale, we are still at war with each other. This destructive behaviour is detrimental to our species and home planet.
Ants, bees, wolves, elephants, lions, bison, penguins, dolphins all find strength in unity.
A lovely poem!

You have made a universal truth come to life in the course of an awesome review. The animal kingdom knows how to do things right.
They all find strength in unity! What a delightful concept!
Humankind could learn a thing or two from animals.
Thanks for putting things into perspective.

Jesse,
What a great poem. I like the line, "we must lead not follow" it is so true. I am not a sheeple so I have a hard time following. Some of our greatest discoveries were made by leaders exploring the world.

Hello Cecilia. I am not a sheeple either. I love that term. Lead and others will follow. Thanks for your encouraging review.
Enjoy the upcoming weekend.

Great poem with an important message! It's said "Each one teach one" originated as an African-American proverb.
In the days of slavery there was little opportunity to learn. When a slave was taught to read it became a responsibility to teach that skill to another...
It's been adopted throughout the world and as a motto for many learning institutions.
I smiled as I read this because my nephew is in kindergarten and his teacher ordered tee-shirts for each child in her class...with this motto.
They wear them on Mondays, and the entire class "brainstorms" what each of them knows that they can teach!
You suggest that this is a wonderful habit to adopt in or out of the classroom, and I enthusiastically agree...
I love your line:
"By working together
we can reach past the sun..."
Nurses use this philosophy frequently!
Teaching a new diabetic, for example, can be a scary experience. Gather a group of four or five new diabetics, pass out oranges, demonstrate how to properly give an injection... (Into the orange) then sit back and smile as each person engages with the next...
Suddenly the "students" are teachers!
This poem is a perfect example of teaching us a new way to I interact!
Love that!

Thanks, my friend for the six stars and empowering review!
Of all the reviews I have read so far yours is my favorite. You inspire me by looking up the origins of the saying and passing it on to me.
Also, letting me know how the nurses help patients learn about diabetes by having them teach each other.
You put so much into your reviews and I appreciate this greatly.
Some readers have compared this mantra to paying it forward.
I agree it is similar.
Thanks for choosing your favorite line.
You are awesome!

Well done! We so often diminish ourselves, never considering that we are all teachers, and have a responsibility to help others. It's so much easier to just follow. Thank you.

Agreed. We have a responsibility to teach others. Leading takes courage and those who lead will help others prosper.
Thanks for sharing your point of view.

Hi, Jesse. Your poem is well constructed with its consistent use of rhyme holding it together, and of course has a fine message summed up in the title and final line 'each one teach one.'
I do have a query about the presentation with so much separation between lines that the reader is likely to get lost.

So far, no one has gotten lost at least they haven't said they got lost.
I chose the placement of the lines for emphasis. Thank you for your suggestion anyway.
Enjoy the evening.

My mantra too. Learn one teach two. On here we are teaching all the time. I help out, any way I can whenever I can. We lead by example. You said this all very well. Karen

Take good care of yourself, my friend.

Love your philosophy, "each one teach one" and yes, today, I really don't understand why we/people keep putting things off, they only keep building and getting worse, so very well said and written****kahpot

When one sheep jumps, the others follow. We all have something we can teach another and in turn we can be taught. We are here to help one another. No man is an Island. I liked the lesson through your poetry. Nobody is a walking dictionary, our experiences are our book of knowledge. Stored away waiting to help our brother or sister. Blessings, K xx
