Thank you for your kind comments. The letter to the editor part came straight from the newspaper posting. Maybe they did some editing for me, because I know I'm capable of big time boo-boos.

Hi bhogg,
Congratulations for achieving what you call "Laminate status." That is a great achievement and I'm sure it has touched and blessed many who had read it. your letter to the editor is really very touching, very well written, so full of positive thoughts in spite of the sad situation you were in at the time. I enjoyed reading this. Well done.

Thanks Anabella - It was a difficult time for me, but guess what? I got through it just fine. I've never regained the salary level or so called "prestige" of that job, but am doing fine and still live with my best buddy.

Well done, Bhogg. I think that you have a point here, and all writers should live with this enthusiasm. Always keep your faith, and dignity when you have lost all else.
It's never over. And the writer always gets the last word.
Good job.

Thank you for this beautiful letter to remind us how lucky we are. Sometimes I get bent out of shape over the news and then I thank God I have 'freedom of press and expression.' I hope your life is better now. Thank you for writing this and just reminding everyone we need to count our blessings. Thanks, Shirley

Hi Shirley - Losing a job after the age of 50 is tough (I was 54). While I've never gotten back to the salary level or so called "prestige" of that job, I'm fine. I also still live with my best buddy, so life is good!

This is an interesting story and is definitely told by a very viewpoint. Thus- it's no wonder that it got laminate

Unfortunately though, times have changed. Many over 50 years old have lost they jobs and are finding it impossible to find employment, then to make things worse, the republicans fight every unemployment extension. The bottom result is thousands are losing everything and are becoming homeless. Thus - for many - death would be welcomed.

Jonathan - I hope things look up for you. I was 55 when I lost my job. I've never regained the level of salary, or the so called "prestige" of the old job. I find that I can get by on a lot less money, still find joy in life and live with my best friend. Good luck to you my friend!

I appreciated your words. I, too, lost my job. I found my family, friends, and time to write again. I enjoyed the format of a story followed by a request for prayer outside yourself. The images and emotions are real to the happenings you relate. I think its neat that your letter hung on a bulletin board for others to read...and you learned that it was there. Think of how many lives you touched with a positive attitude. Well done. judithMarie

I find this to be very uplifting and a demonstration of how to live with the down turns in life. In your own way, you have written a very good sermon. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks Charlie - You know, I've never gotten back to the salary level or the "prestige" of the old job, but I'm very happy and still get to hang out with my best buddy.

Hi bhogg.

This is an excellent story...it is biographical? Even if it's not it is clever and thoughtful. The loss of a job that teaches so much that the loss seems much less than one might expect. A very clever and well written story which I enjoyed reading...chey

Totally biographical. It was a tough time for me. I've never reached the compensation or "prestige" of that job in 7 years. I sure am happy though and continue to live with my best friend. Thanks for reading - you know I always enjoy your work!

Exceptional message. What you say is so very true. It would make life so much easier for all of us if we were to just count our blessings instead of always looking at the downside. I can add nothing but thank you for the pleasure of allowing us to read this. I congratulate on a life well lived.
