I really enjoyed your poem. I have been dealing with the types of people you describe in your poem and I think it is time for a change. Thank you for these timely words of wisdom.

Very moving description of what life is and how we get through it. I don't think that compassion and flexibility is dead. Maybe accountability is dead among politicians and company CEOs but not among 'normal' people.
I don't know if this is a poem though. It seems more prosaic than poetic though it is well written.

People often disappoint us. Sometimes it's an issue of character, some times of circumstances. I don't know how wise I'll be when I die. But I'm pretty sure it won't be enough.
Peace, Lee
surround ourselves with people with integrity,--Maybe you can replace the second 'with' with 'of'. Just a thought.

I thought that the linework here was very long and lacked cadence. I think shortening the linework would help with that. It feels like I'm running out of breath as I reach the end of the line. Also, "but if you fall will always "? if you fall, I will always? I think this is a typo. Other than that, I thought the piece showed strong emotion, but for a short write that is the start of more to come the spag needs to be corrected. Good work and thanks for sharing.

Dear GW,
For friends are the very essence of life, without their support life would not be fulfilling.

Thanks for what your views, in this free verse & like the title, picture & agree with quite a bit of this, your philosophy...Yes, falling is a lot of the time that keeps us always to try harder..And we all had & have to go through birth, life & death...Thanks for sharing, " The Dying Art."

Well, this is a true assessment of our life here on this earth. We do hope to make a difference in the world with our compassion and caring for others. Just as it is not in our best interest to waste ourselves on those who don't care about anyone, it is right to still wish them well. And perhaps pray for them. Obviously they need it.
"Falling is part of life and trust is the basis of all real friendship, we enter this world alone with no illusion (I think perhaps the word 'idea' might be a better word here) ...of what is to come."
Of course it's your poetry and your call. This is just a suggestion. Good, philosophical poetry.

I'm not sure if you intended this to be a kind of epitaph, but that is how it came across to me. I felt you illustrated very well the risk of friendship, and that this was a farewell to all the 'friends' who would, as you said 'cast [us] aside with the first change of weather'. A heartfelt, moving piece.
Blessings,
~ J.

Hi deepwater,
Your poem is beautiful. I always write my poetry from my heart too. So we have something in a common. You did an outstanding job in writing "The Dying Art". I look forward to reading more of your work.
