For creatures of the forest, it is the very essence of life.

Your language is beautifully elegant. Great alliteration throughout. Your wilderness has a good rhythm when read aloud. Thanks for sharing. Les

Thanks, Les. I try to keep the alliteration to a bare minimum, especially in haiku. From what I've read, it is generally frowned upon. However, Americanized haiku widely accepts it, so...

Thanks for the great review, my friend.

This is a fun hiaku which creates vivid images of deer playing. I love the picture to enhance the words. Rivers are the lifeblood of the wild creatures. Every creature needs water.
Excellent alliteration in "resplendent river" and "flows free"
Good luck in the contest.

Thanks, judester. That's what haiku is supposed to do, make a clear image that puts your reader in the scene. That's what I've been told, at least.

What . . . no horror?? Just teasing you. This is a darling haiku. We are rich with spotted fawns right now. A common sight, but always a welcome sight. Those baby deer really know how to frolic. Nicely penned, Dean.

Nope, I've never heard of a horror haiku (although, it does have a catchy ring to it, LOL), so I had to be nice, Green Lake Girl. It's hard, but I managed.

resplendent river
flows free through lush wilderness
whitetail yearlings play
Good complimentary photo. The syllable count is spot on. Good alliteration with resplendent/river...flows/free. Clear message that is short and simple.

The Haiku, "resplendent river", has already been recognized and has achieved "All Time Best". It is a perfect Haiku with a river subject. Meets all requirements of prompt entry. Nicely done; God bless!

This is a lovely river haiku with great - resplendent river to start it off.Even without the cute artwork your words paint a nice picture for us of this resplendent river.

I love the imagery of your haiku, that first line evokes beauty and power in my mind, a nice contrast to the gentle play of whitetail yearlings. Nice alliteration and perfect artwork. Good luck in the voting booth!

Dean, I enjoyed reading then reviewing your river haiku writing prompt. Reminds me of my younger days spent in the forests sitting beside a meandering river. now and then I would catch a glimpse of a doe and her fawns. A sight nothing like it.

Well done Dean and I wish you much luck. Have a great day,,,,,,Jim
