Gary, Probably Not!! I don't have many achievements I'm proud off. AND, I know my kids aren't proud of me for anything! Although, my grandchildren love me and they may be proud of me someday. However, they don't know about achievements now.
Regardless of my state of affairs, you have posted some wonderful pieces of work in the last couple weeks, so I bet your descendant's will remember you, especially if their name is located in your will! Ha.

That is a very thought provoking piece. I would imagine that the accomplishments of the ancestors themselves would have to be taken under scrutiny. But, in general a lack of reverence for the efforts of those that laid the foundations for you probably is going to weaken the foundation you build for your progeny. But, in some cases it is a foundation that should not be stood upon. Mikey

Good original saying that brings to light the need to remember history and appreciate sacrifices and accomplishments made by our ancestors. It was very succinctly said and hopefully will encourage those of today to look back with gratefulness of the generations before us.

Considering that I lived and worked with the Lakota, that in the old days tribal decisions were made in consideration of how they would impact the seventh generation of the seventh generation and considering that my ancestors have made a royal mess of things so that there may not be enough left to sustain a few generations down the road, I prefer to break away and am stronger for it.

Dear deepwater, I really love this thought provoking poem. It comes at a very true time for me. A well know native american artist passed away a couple of days ago. He was from my home town. He was about 88 years old. I grew up with all of his kids. He painted on rocks he found on the side of the road. They were beautiful. I now realize so many things I took for granted growing up in Oklahoma was a blessing. Your poem reminded me of him. His name was Phillip Coon. Thanks for sharing, Shirley
