Great thoughts penned on lifes harsh reality of pain, distrust, heart ache. I loved this line: My trust is the nightmare, that played us a-part, extraordinary work.

I would surmise that this 'new surprise' will be treated very differently, which is a shame, but unavoidable. Rose-colored glass is better left for ornaments...

A very fine run with this post too. I love the vivid pictures you painted with "Discarded vows, for greener promised lands,
Distrust and heartache, are things we live through,
What of the mind games, the trials, the truths?" it sticks to the mind like a leech.

Great picture to highlight, which seems to be a free verse of a relationship that isn't the same..Had a little trouble comprehending the trust, played us a-part, as usually with that attribute, the other persona caused the break-up. Change definitely seems to be in the works, though with the question marks, especially at the very end, it seems an uncertain path is set now, in place..Thanks for Sharing, "Reflection on life."...Interesting read, it was for me.

Very philosophical. You give your reader much to reflect on in this well written verse.
Life can be full of mistakes, some of us will continue to make the same mistakes over and over, others will learn from them.
It is after all what we make it.
Now you have given me much to think about. I believe that is just what I will do.
Thanks for sharing.

I know great poetry when I see it and it saddens me when I cannot understand a poem. Thus, "Is there wisdom to survive?" Generally there is no wisdom in us except the wisdom that God gives us. Thanks for writing a poem that makes me ink.th

We can be forgiven if we thought we could have it all - life of peace and riches surrounded by loved ones who never die.
As the season of the year goes in a cycle, we will lose and gain some.
But whatever we have gained, we will eventually lose. Like war, life is a game no one wins when, birth, sickness, old age and death are the truths we must subscribe to and embraced.
If we must surmise the future, it is best to remind ourselves that nothing is forever. But we can dream and hope till our ashes are blown away by the soft breeze to heaven, smiles.
Great write and well expressed.
Cheerio, regards, Ritchie. :))

As I read through your poem I was struck by the movement. You start with a question and then the pace grows and the questions become more intense and difficult. Then, just at the end you lift the poem to a different level, still questioning, but this time with a hopeful tone. This adds a nice undercurrent to the work. Your smooth rhythm and delicate rhyme enhance the conversational manner of the piece. It was very enjoyable reading.

Maybe we all ponder too much on our past hopes and plans that either didn't come to fruition or went wrong, both in romance and general living.
Of course we need to contemplate at times, so as not to make the same mistakes again...but, being human. we often still do. :-)
I'm not sure what the 'gw' means at the end.
Interesting read.
Best wishes, Ray

This poem and the picture shows the ending of a relationship. Everyone thinks things will last forever when it first begins.
It can only last with trust and no mind games. Mind games show a lack of both trust and true love. That is how relationships turn to ash.
