I loved this poem! To see from a child's eyes would be amazing! How carefree and spirited a child's mind can be/and is. You captured the words wisely. I really enjoyed it. I love poems with children as the focus:))

You certainly chose a rejuvenating topic. It brought back memories of my childhood and the vacations by the sea.
Even in my adult life the sea has always been the pace w here I resort to just to relax a bit. Good poem but the rhythm could flow more readily

You bring back memories I cherish. I like the line about mother up to the knee, not deep. I don't feel anything when I reach the end. I wish there was some angst. Little in life is perfect. When I relive those moments on the beach I remember my brother teasing me, the water ruining the castle, the sand in the sandwich. Thanks for the memories. Your phasing was wonderful.

In the eyes of a child, the world is an amazing place. As we grow, we often lose that sense of wonder. The world truly is amazing if we look for all that is good. Take care, my friend~Debbie

Nice old photo to complement this children's poem. Excellent mono rhyme all the way through. And most kids love the ice cream best.

You've written such a wonderful expression of summer and youthful days. I enjoyed the mini vacation from my desk while reading it.

Teresa

Hi Deepwater, I think this poem resonates with many adults who still remember a lazy day at the sea and the ice cream that went with it. It's funny that even for a child it's special to get away from home and spend some time at the water's edge. Well penned. luv jada

As a child, I saw the ocean for the first time when I was 10. It was such a magical experience. This is a very well written poem. Good job.

Hi Deepwater. Ah, ice cream and the sea. I wish more xhildren could see through these eyes. It is good to read the other side, of happiness and clean sheets.

I feel that many children would feel this way. My two did when we went to the beach. Oh my, the sand castles, the water but not too deep, and the ice cream was always the best! Talk about sleep, probably the best they ever had. Great memories, and even today, these should stay in the eyes of a child. Beautifully written. . .Sharon
