What a dramatic picture to beckon us into your song! I admired your tercets and your rhymes about lost love and loneliness. I am sure these lyrics will be another "All Time Best" and they'll be many more to follow- Joan

hi there,

I enjoyed this lyrical poem.
Can picture it alongside the guitar strumming. Good imagery and a good flow.

Nicely penned.

The choice of the photo at the top is excellent although the poem stands alone. You paint a picture of emotional tragedy and longing. It flows smoothly and I hear music in the background. I had hope that he would move on with his life and then the end is kerplunk it made me sad but that is also what makes country music so real. Congratulations on excellent work.

Turn "South on Highway 65". I enjoyed your lyrics, Brett. The story flows smoothly from verse to verse and it has a steady rhythm to it. I like all the stanzas but this one was a favorite.

"it wasn't all that long ago.
why you left me, I don't know,
but far from you is where I wanna stay."

This is an interesting poem that the author has created with this piece of work. I like this a lot. These are beautiful lyrics about the open road and driving like the wind, come hell or high-water. Well done.

Sad and poignant, these verses are a litany of loss and pain.
You captured the loneliness of being rejected, of leaving, and making the decision not to return.
Well done.

If you love doing it, then it's worthwhile, Brett. If writing fills you with anticipation, passion, and happiness, it is the right thing to do. Only when writing starts to feel like more of a chore than a love affair should you ever feel you should stop. As long is you have fun doing "your thing" while trying to entertain those enough who care to read what you've written, then that's all that truly matters in the end. If you love what you've written and you put all you had into writing something, chances are that passion is going to shine through, and others are going to feel the same way about what you've written.

Well done! ~Dean

I love these lyrics and hear what you are saying! Very rhythmic - like the road he's traveling on .... a good connection there.

The only line that I had somewhat of an awkward response to was "but we can't leave not well enough alone" - my suggestion would be "can't we just leave well enough alone?" Just my honest reaction - whatever is fine with me!

You've told a good story here, the rhyming pattern is great, and there is a good tempo throughout. I enjoyed reading this. Nicely done!

Interesting use of road tripping to express thoughts of a relationship gone sour. The pain and confusion expressed is something to which we can all relate. Good use of rhythm and rhyme, not at all forced. I wish I could hear you sing it. Good imagery also.

I love these lyrics because of the truth behind them that we all have felt.
When love went sour and we didn't change the other person did and it leaves us in pain
Well penned
God bless
