This poem was an ambitious undertaking that covered a lot of ground in aabb rhymed quatrains. It covered the moods and colors of it all while paying tribute to its fallen heroes. The meter wasn't great, but the thoughts were good. Nicely done. Good luck in the contest.

A beautiful poem in honor of our country and those who have given their lives to maintain the freedom we all enjoy.

I like the way you pointed out the meaning of the colors on the flag, and how it relates to our loves in this country.

Alot of traditional imagery helps stir the emotions, and your new ideas accent these feelings of gratitude.

I could feel the passion and love for your country coming through well in this piece. You clearly spoke about all things the United States stands for and drew me in with your work. I would say I am quite patriotic about being British although I do feel that we could celebrate ourselves more. When I went to New York in August I noticed there were flags everywhere, I feel that it is a shame that we here in Great Britain are not more like that.
