This is a beautifully written poem. And so true. I recall being 13 and thinking 30 was old. Now I'm in my 50s and wonder where the time went. And don't think of myself as old. ð???. Don't blink. Good analogy so true.

Such a wonderful story of a lifetime of love, marriage, children, grandchildren . . . I'm sure many of us read this and see our own lives. I loved the line about thinking our parents extinct - my husband and I were just saying that we are at the age now that we thought our parents were "old".
Great read - thank you.

Hahaha! I have to respond to this one two years later. Funny how we barely knew each other then. But it was kind of fun to jump into an old review and say hi.

Because one can't have too many replies from DPM, she hits the send button twice:-)

Or is it three times that you hit the "save" button, lol?!

I like this poem it has a pretty good metre and flows in an almost musical way like a story in a song. Your author's nite help tie it together. The rhyme is also pretty consistent and even. Nice work.

I like the rhyme scheme in this poem. For, it has substance. Nevertheless, I thought It could have used a little more creativity. But I loved it nonetheless. Therefore, your sitting on the stars. Keep Writng

Congratulations on your win with this well-expressed poem. It is personal but it is an encouragement to all readers to appreciate every stage of our lives. I am sure having Jesus walking by our sides helps us cope with difficult situations.

A beautiful poem celebrating the passing of life and how fast we go from blink to blink. I felt like our lives spoke to each other through experience, I too, am a young grandma! ð???

Congratulations!!! You deserve to win this contest with this most sublime poem. I really like these lines, With all the changes in my life,
Wisdom grows each time I think. Lord, help me wait a little while,
Before it's time again to Blink!! When you turn to the Lord, you will never be disappointed, Kit

I will start this review with my favorite line in your poem. "I'm soon the age my parents were, when I thought they were extinct." I also like the statement that says life won't let you rehearse. I'm now older than my mother was when she passed, and your poem made me stop and remember the many "blinks" in my life. Your poem is thought-provoking and your notes provide a necessary message. Best wishes in the contest.

Oh my goodness, I used to be haunted with the feeling that I would die at 63; the age my mother was when she died of pancreatic cancer. I know exactly how that feels, as I am 67 now & lol, hoping not to blink anytime soon!
So thank you for your lovely review & you are so very kind. The contest is over now, so my identity is no longer hidden! I invite you to read, "Her Loving Touch" that I wrote for her on my first Mother's Day w/o her. I have a feeling you will be able to relate! Did your mom die of ovarian cancer? And can I ask how old she was? .........And once again, thank you for the awesome review!
    God Bless!

Hi Debi, My mom died at age 73 after being hospitalized with a stroke. The day she had the stroke, we had been out together shopping and stopped at a restaurant. That evening my sister called to check on her, and her speech was slurred. My sister took her to the hospital and she never left. When I turned 73, I was terrified the entire year. I'm over it now. God is good.

Thank you for sharing this writing prompt entry with us. I enjoyed reading and I agree. Don't Blink! I do understand your author's notes. I raised four boys, the only way I survived is on my knees in prayers.
