Mary,
Sometimes. there seems to be no answers and we find ourselves in a place where letting go and trusting in a higher power is the only way to go. As much as you can, think happy thoughts to raise your energy. If you have no such happy thoughts, sometimes you have to 'fake it 'til you make it' Perhaps you are being given this seemingly impossible challenge for good reasons that will become apparent as time goes by.
You are in my prayers tonight.

Hello Mary Kay, you are going through a lot. It is difficult to see a parent's health fail. However, your love for your Mom shines through.
Of special note:
I have a low energy level and my own disabilities,
plus I'm in my sixties.
(M, you are what they call the "sandwich" generation. You're at the age where you have to care for a parent(s) and you may have to care for children, plus your own health issues. All of this is not easy.)
Also ... My mother lives in New Jersey, a half-hour drive from where I live in Queens -- except that I don't drive, and no one in my very small immediate family does.
(I'm originally from NYC so I understand your dilemma. I now live in NJ. My mother who lived in NYC didn't know how to drive. When you live in NYC, there really isn't a need to drive and parking is a horror. As far as the bus, you would have to go into the Port Authority first ... and who wants to go there now--your life is in danger.)
I'm sorry that I'm just meeting you now. I've been on FS for years, but I usually review poetry. I've only recently begun to review stories because so many of my fans have crossed over from writing poetry into writing stories.
I wish you the best. Cleaning out a house is difficult. I keep trying to convince my husband that we should start to do a cleanout. It's a lot to put your children through.
Your story is heartfelt, and it is a story that many people can/will relate to. Be well ~ stay safe. LateBloomer

It's wonderful to meet you, LateBloomer. You're right -- I have found that many people have been able to relate to my story. Actually my mother has a large one-bedroom apartment, but sometimes it feels like we're cleaning out a house!
When we've traveled here by public transportation, we've gone through Port Authority, and it's not a nice place -- also very difficult to navigate, with a walker. I'm so thankful for my husband.
Yes, we're the "sandwich" generation, but no kids here -- although I regret not having any. I have some siblings, nieces and nephews, but they're all somewhat distant, and from my father?s second marriage -- so no help is to be found there.
I appreciate your kind and caring review. God bless you, my friend.
Love, Mary Kay xoxo

Thank you, Mary Kay, for giving us the reason for your absence. Some of it I knew but the details, I didn't. I wasn't aware that you were with your mom all this time. I also have that same situation with parents needing to be placed in nursing homes. My dad's dementia is getting worse and my mom's starting to show. I fully understand how wearing it is on you so will be praying for all of you - Jorge and your mom, too.

Dear Helen, I greatly appreciate your loving and supportive review of my post and my general situation, and I would like to express my concern and love for you and your family in your situation, as well -- there are no easy answers, but "God leads His dear children along." I pray that we will both get the strength and the guidance we need for these difficult times. In terms of her mental acuity, I only see my mother slipping a little bit, and I can only hope and pray that she will remain basically lucid until the end -- although it's all in the hands of God. It's up to us to show them as much love as we can. I know this pleases the Lord, and carries no regrets, but it isn't always easy. Thank you so much for your prayers. May God hold you all close throughout this time. Amen.
