this poem made me think a lot and i think its a nice thing you did writing this. what lessons have you learned is my favorite part.
Dare we call from beneath this cross of stone,
always reminding you of the confusion from history
is a good line! i think you wrote a powerful poem here. good job!
opening line is cool too and the picture too

This is so very tragically beautiful. My father was a Marine in WWII and fought in the Pacific. Sadly, I lost him three years ago. This poem captures the "zeitgeist" of all generations; the "confusion of history." The last line is so poignant, "Or will you fall victim to events we ignored,,,,," The conflicting emotions are so very well illustrated. Well done, poet.

Your poem is a passionate reminder to all of us that those brave souls died defending our freedoms, and we should never take them for granted.

Very touching. And necessary. It's hard to believe a generation or two can erase the lessons we believed would never fade. Dan :))

Loved the message of this poem. It is well thought out. Can our leaders keep us out of this kind of horror in future generations. I pray so. God bless.

Beautiful words and a heart rending cry from a fallen soldier who died so that we may live. But do we really care? Do we appreciate their sacrifices? They leave their homes and families and live a strenuous life fighting for the motherland, But alas WILL YOU REPEAT THE PAST MISTAKES OF YOUR ANCESTORS? You cry. Your poem says in graphic words what has always been the soldier's cry. Great writing. brought tears to my eyes. I salute you and those brave men of our armed forces. Gooloom

I need to go back and read this because this was great with imagery and truth. This is a great chapter in your book and I wish you well. Great imagery and being creative. And saying it like it is. Cody

I am impressed by the originality encased in the solemn yet piercing words of truth embodied in this piece. I like the feel and the delivery full of unshakable undeniable truth.

Great poem. It is a very nice poem all year round but especially here at Veteran's Day. It reminds us who we need to thank each and every day of our life. This poem is a very smoothe read. Thanks for sharing, Shirley

I like this! The flowing words and match the story and experiences of the past, a very nicely written poem abut the real life of a soldier, and yes a lot of injustice form the past as well as always but for giving your life there's great reward in heaven. Well done!
