Hi barb, I read this quickly while at work. Despite your warning, the scene still disturbed me. I don't understand why it's so hard for the police to detain the animal. Life is really cruel for some.

You described the relative sense of helplessness when faced with a situation where someone is almost inevitably at mortal risk.

Brutality toward a captive is not unheard of and your posting reminds one of how difficult these situations can be.

Believable and leaves you wondering why this bit of fiction has so many parallels in real time.

Again, another excellent portion to a larger work. Anna is a character every reader will feel for. Bobby needs a bullet to the head.

Bobby is certifiably insane and he is most definitely
driving Troy crazy since Troy is unable to get to Anna
to get her to safety. I suspect Troy is not a violent
man, but when the woman you've fallen in love with is
being harmed for no other reason than her ex-husband
thinks that's what she deserves, that anger must be
coming from deep inside him.
