I love the poem and the message of how God forgives - even the most ruthless man. I am not well versed with Anti-Semitism and the Nazis but I'm aware of the horrific events during Adolf Hitler's era. Reading the quotations on your notes, made me realize how really twisted Adolf Hitler was. c", Mae

Thank you, Mae, and that was precisely my reasoning or putting them in my notes. I'm very glad that you enjoyed the poem, my friend!

solid use of rhyming couplets
dramatic reveal that this soldier is a member of the Nazi SS
a moving spiritual message of how even those who have done the most horrific things are capable of realizing the profound depths of their sin

Thanks, Brooke, and you nailed the meaning head on. I've been accused of everything by writing this one, from supporting Hitler's viewpoints (which, I can't for the life of me understand after reading this how anyone could possibly think that!), to anti Semitism. Don't people actually READ the poems they review? My goodness!
Thanks so much again, Brooke.

My very short answer to your question is "No." Of course, some people read the posts thoughtfully, but others definitely skim read and others have reading comprehension problems.

wow Dean, this gives me a lot to think about. God is forgiving and Jesus died for our sins. I do hope we all are forgiven and go to Heaven. Well written poem. I appreciated the notes. Did Hitler die still believing he was right or did he ask Christ for forgiveness? That might make a difference in the Grace of God.

I guess only God would know the answer to that question, Teresa. Hitler was indeed a monster, I know that. So were many of his henchmen, but not all of them.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me on this poem. I really appreciate it.

A very interesting and insightful tale. Yes, prejudice against the Jews was a common thing. Look at what Russia did to the Jews during, and before, WWII, and after.

This was an interesting read with a lot of history in it. I don't know what it'll be like to see Jesus for the first time but from what I've heard from people who have gone to Heaven and came back it's pretty amazing. I often pretend I'm sitting in Jesus' lap every night when we have our time together and last night I wondered if one day I'd actually get to sit on His lap and do that in person one day. You just never know but I hope I get to

All you have to do is believe, ExperiencingLiphe, and your dream will come true. He promised us it would.
Thanks so much for your favorable review of my work.

Hi Dean Kuch,
Only God knows who He will welcome, and who turn away, and your poem highlights one of the dichotomies: He may even welcome people we consider the most heinous murderers. The key is that they may repent and thus be 'saved' even in that split second before death. As the new Pope recently declared, even an atheist may go to heaven if God decides it.

There is nothing on this earth that hasn't been done before. History continues to repeat it's self over and over as it always has. Thanks for another great poem. :-)

This poem has a significant symbolic message-with Christ's atonement all sins can be absolved and the soldier was elated to be forgiven. Like you wrote, if this can happen in Paradise, on Earth there is much work to do. Your rhymes, choice of words, spiritual theme made it a wonderful poem. Thank you for sharing. Faye
