Dean, this is just a lovely haiku. I'm so glad you didn't let your disappointment keep you from getting back on the saddle. This should do very well in the contest. Warm regards, Bev

Thanks, Bev, and I'm trying not to. I'm one who doesn't like anything getting the best of me.
I appreciate the kind words of encouragement and review. We'll just see if anyone actually votes.

This is a very nice haiku. I like the picture you chose although that was not really needed as the words you wrote portrayed the scene very well. Good job!

I like the alliteration of resplendent rivers. And what is more resplendent or representative of lush wilderness teeming with life than two starlings at play? Good Haiku.

This is simply stunning and is sure to be a top contender if not the winner. It deserves all of the recognition it has received as it is a delightful reading experience. I wish you all the best in the voting and thank you so much for sharing this with me.

Hi Brother Dean,
You are getting real good with these three liners.
It makes one have to read over a couple times to get the gist of the message.
Congratulation on the recognition awards!

Thanks, Jerry. I don't know how good I'm getting, my track record in these contests is atrocious. But, I still keep trying, for some reason.

Beautiful artwork and word presentation, Dean, though I expect that of you. :-)
I always prefer multi-syllable apt words in these short forms, rather than 'wasted', 'a/the/and' etc.
I've never heard the term 'whitetail' connected to young deer, but that's probably because I'm a sheltered Brit. :-)
Excellent!
Good luck and best wishes, Ray

Thanks, Ray, I appreciate it. Whitetail deer are pretty common here in these parts. Really, they're scattered all across the US, in various states. Have you ever seen the Vietnam movie, The Deer Hunter, starring Meryl Streep, Robert de Nero and Chistopher Walken? if you have, then you recall the large buck de Nero shoots in the mountains? That's a whitetail deer.

Thanks for the info, Dean, and I have seen that brilliant film.
Mind you, I have trouble 'recalling' what I had for breakfast. :-)
Cheers, Ray
