Created good visuals and helps us to realize the true feelings of those at war. Each day not knowing if it could be your last.
Well paired picture and poem

I think you have captured the deep and overwhelming fear of battle, that must be overcome in the face of terror. I also think you have clearly evoked the importance of camaraderie particular to brothers in arms. And last but not least, you have painted the mind numbing repetitiveness of war. . .and the endless loss of friends and comrades that were once standing at your side.
Written with great heart.

Thank you for this review
Comment from Giddy Nielsen-Sweep
War is terrible and it's such a shame that we don't teach our children more about compromise and understanding of the other's opinions, more about tolerance. More about 'not sweating the small stuff.' You wrote a great poem which emphasises the starkness of war and the terrible consequences, Giddy

Well worded poem about war and it's effect on the young
Men who fight and lose friends.
It is about their courage and bravery in spite of the dangers.
They were ready to give up their lives for the cause.

May we always give pause to think of the young and the brave defending a nation's pride, a father's legacy, the memory of the fallen and battles lost and won. God's grace. Beautifully written, gave me pause today to think of the brave, young, and strong.

This is a very well-written, heartfelt poem. It saddens me every time I see and hear news of the young men and women who have lost or are scared by the woes of war. When will man ever learn?
Bless you for sharing.

A quite beautiful story of the tragedy of war, thank you for sharing. It is today as it was way back then, so many losses and yet they do their best.

This keeps popping up and I keep passing on reviewing it.
Clearly it is well thought of by your reviewers and except for allowing a god and prayer to be associated with soldiers caught up in war, I am in sympathy with your content.
When it first appeared, I copied it, put it into word, added a few words and modified the punctuation (as I often do when attempting to assess free-verse)and concluded that it was excellent prose with a few words cut out.
I did not think you would welcome such a comment so decided to absorb the time I spent and skipped commenting. But now I want to stop it from popping up and also, the fact that I found it excellent prose would not annoy you,, so I offer it as a compliment.

Hi GW,
This is a beautifully written poem, but it is also sad. Still I enjoyed every word of it. I look forward to more of your wonderful work.
