I really enjoyed these lyrics also and was singing them along in my head with a random country melody. The pattern is super and really rhythmic.
This one just missed a chorus for me, but I guess that depends on the tune you had in your own mind and whether there were instrumental parts- like guitar/fiddle solos in between the verses.
I am really keen to know if you write melodies to go with these great lyrics. do you play an instrument?
I have also been pleasantly surprised by the amount of Christians on the site.

I was born in a farm house within about 1500 feet from highway 65 at the junction of Highway 52. I walked 2 miles each day to and from school along highway 65. This was in Missouri

It sounds like his relationship is over though he still loves her. He knows getting truly involved is bad for him. But he seems willing to stay connected as friends.
You keep a clear aab rhyme scheme. The picture seems to show a new door he is passing through that everything in front of him.

How else can we express our deepest feelings. I'm sure the girl feels it the same lonely way. You must have felt the signs long before. When she became all judgmental maybe. Why the surprise. Human love is not infinite except in our dreams. The most passionate love affair must cool. Love like life is ever changing and transforming itself. After the fourth tercet I started singing - couldn't help it - an instant composition! Now, I reckon if a lyric can do that then there can't be much wrong with the lyric. I just wonder though whether as a song it might just be a little long. Someone told me once that three to three and a half minutes was about right and anything over four minutes was too long. Mind you there are plenty of hits that would gainsay that.
