I have read the work three times to see what I am missing. I think it says "Do what you think is right, strive for your goal no mattter what others think or say or how they judge you." But I don't feel a poetic tone to this work. you seem to have a good premise and some admirable thoughts, but they get lost in a wordy composition. Wish I could be more constructive. Best Regards, JeffreyStone

Exactly. In the last line, who could find peace when let to be judged his actions in the heart of others, they will live to please somebody else, even a bigger conflict will rise when maybe trying to please two different people. Well Said.

Hullo Deepwater ...
With your delightful old-fashioned photograph at the top, what you have written here makes for pleasant reading and, at the same time, is thought-provoking.
There is nothing to suggest changing and I thank you for sharing this with us.
With love from ... Nanette Mary.

there is a very good message in this piece of poetry. The voice is a bit uncolored, but still there. I found this piece of poetic art to be well written and a pleasure to have written a review for... John

Nice poetry, Gary. You should write a book of your own philosophy.
Would he stand as stone on principles
Or bend to the ever moving passage of age
With conviction to the aspirations of what can be achieved
Only to show true emotions with understanding to what is at hand
Or live under the premise of whatever happens he will continue his journey
With the conflict of never finding peace,>>Very good presentation.

Reminds me of the Scripture that asks if the believer will stand on the doctrine of Christ or be moveable with every "wind of doctrine." Enjoyed the read God bless. Stand firm on your convictions!!

Your poem really does speak out about hurt and loss. It is very emotive too.
It made me think about life and what I value most. I know that life can be very hard and all we can do is pick ourselves up and get on with it in the best way we can.
As for peace of mind, I think that it is only possible if we let go of whatever hurt us and look forward not back.
I am a senior citizen now and have had some hard knocks in life. I used to stew over things but I have come to the realisation that life passes by too quickly and laughter is truly the best medicine.
Will this soul of a man be judged by the heart of his partner? This line makes me think that we put too much emphasis on what other's think of us. It's what we think of our own behaviour that is important.
One of the last things my dearest friend said to me before she died was that she was happy to know that she had lived life without hurting anyone. This sums life up for me. If we can aspire to be the best we can and hurt no one on the way, we've lived a good life.
Wow, just look at what your poem has done to me!

You have very strong points in the first few lines. But it seems as though the subject, the judged man by his partner. Seems like it comes apart after that...with convictions to the aspirations of what can be achieved, I mean I just don't get it after that. I like that you're showing the man's despair throughout the writing, keeping the tone believeable.

This is such a thought-provoking piece of writing. You ask the questions, I wish you had some answers, too. Your picture takes me back a long way as I have a very similar one of my first born held by his then matelot father. Well done.

touching presentation and picture; sounds like a growth message; the last line is sad, but sometimes life is too. Blessings, Tricia
