What a lovely poem about your grandmother and her secrets.
How wonderful that she chose you to tell her secrets too, sad as the post cards might be at times they are there for you to keep,a nice reminder of her.
Well written poem that was interesting to read.

dear jlsavell - I found your beautiful poem very touching. The images you captured were extremely vivid, the smell of lavender, old oak, etc. This is truly a wonderful tribute to your grandmother, who sounds amazing. I really enjoyed this and your chosen artwork was absolutely perfect.

Dear jlsavell
What a beautiful poem! I wish I had some of my grandmother's notes. She was a special woman, and it's easy to tell that your grandmother was just as special.
I had to look "abscond" up in the dictionary. I never heard it before.
The war years and our grandparents, eh? And our own parents had to go through World War II. Two generations in war-torn Europe...what a way to mess up a perfect life. Back in those days, letters were so important. They would watch for the mailman. News from the front, news from home. Letters told so much...love, history, family...secrets, as you say. A way for your grandmother to share with you, from a musky oak drawer. I like it!
It reminds me so much of my own grandmother. Thanks for that~

Kim, how are you?? I noticed you have posted a few more poems as of late. I cannot seem to keep up!!!! I do not visit fanstory everyday, as I did in the past. I have learned to step back, for it can be addicting..thank you so much for stopping by. I was thrilled to see a review from you. Yes, letters hold much history, do they not???? again thank you so much..jlsavell

This is poignant and lovely--a tribute to your grandmother as well as a romantic mystery. Thank you for sharing it with us. I very much identify with "lavender, the scent of your spirit." I had one of those grandmothers, too.
confidente (should be "confidante")

jlsavell,
What a neat story! All I could envision while reading Postcards was a movie scene of a woman poring over her grandmother's forgotten postcards, being transported back to the days of a lost love... so romantic! Thanks for sharing a little family history.
