You describe the hardship of a woman married to a man who has to travel a lot for his employment. She often has to carry the burden of both parents. I love the comparison in the antepenultimate line.

Well done. This is not only the life of the cowgirl. Most can relate. However, for me, my enduring is not because of the things I gave up, but the worries for those I have brought into the world and the one I share this responsibility.
Thank you for sharing.

Well, this is a good poem to read...Right to the point, the theme is interesting...You did a good job, telling a tale of a lady, changing lives...

Another gem. So many of us gals have to just live with what cards we are dealt. I have accepted my life, living with pain, and trying to be thankful for what I do have left...I love this photo too, just gorgeous...Susan

The romantic ideas of the cowgirl as with many others does not last forever.
Somewhere along the line there comes a true reality check, where there are duties and children to attend to, and lonliness to contend with.

Life moves on and we realize the fairy tale life we thought we would someday have was just that... a fairy tale! Neat stuff! Cheers, Jack

Indeed life does change as we grow older and circumstances change. Your poem has very vivid imagery that remains clear throughout. The work is sad with a sense of endurance replacing enjoyment. Thoughtful read, this one. Blessings, Linda

This kind of fits in with the other poem I reviewed of yours this day. I liked this piece of poetic art as much as the last one I reviewed from you. This was just a pleasure to have read and written a review for... John

Very well done poem. The line, "Her cowgirl ways of pearls and lace replaced with the Wal-Mart store." exemplifies the sadness of her life. There are many examples of lost dreams and unmet promises in literature. This is a particularly good one. Best wishes.
