What is so admirable about this response is that there is no anger. Instead re reminisces on the good days between them. We can't judge but that was a cruel thing to do to a soldier who shared such special moments with you as his partner. I suppose people just love differently. Maybe she is bd either simply had her own need to take care of.
Well penned piece reminding us of the hardships thta our soldiers undergo for us and the country

Hi Deepwater - a sad poem - replaying to a Dewar John, which is not the kind of letter a soldier wants to receive when away at war. This soldier writes back a letter full of memories when happy and with his loved one. Wife, I suppose as there are children. This must have happened in war and men must have been very disheartened, broken-hearted, not caring what happened to them. A good, sad write. Kind regards Dorothy

Sad Tale. I remember 'dear Johns' from being a t boarding school, also being in the Royal signals six months. Fortunately, I never received one but often helped another reply.
You have conjured up a reasonably true account for many and could not come at a more costly time...perhaps the meaning of life and death.
You depicted a strong ending here.
Good write.

Powerful prose reading well w/meter steady not faltering at any point over a hump difficult to read making a stop. One can feel the joy of the love once known the emotions and visions of memory now part of the heart waning to the sadness of loneliness and tears, yet a gentleman to the end!
God bless & rest his soul.
I didn't see any spelling or grammatical errors; reads well, smooth, and very appealing enticing one to go on reading to the end.

Hi. A well written tear jerker of a poem. It brings the harsh reality of two people living two differnt lives...and the soldier who waits only for a letter, to tuck in his belt and duck the bullets. I fear he will not dcuk the next volley.

Tragic and sad. No one deserves to get a letter like that when away. You captured the life between two who loved, and the death of all of that joy, including the broken heart and demise of a brave soldier.
Well done.

I have never understood how a female could write a Dear John letter to a soldier who is deployed. It is just down right cruel. I also don't understand how these spouses can play around with their deployed that is being the ultimate traitor. Your poem speaks volumes.
I remember the birth of our children, your face with pride so strung, new lifes our future. (I am not sure strung is the correct word. I am NOT a poet.)

Letter from Home "Soldier response to Dear John." This is a most tragic letter (via your poem) that any poor lonesome soldier can ever receive on the battlefield. I don't blame him for taking his own life. Well done.
