I always find myself sitting on the fence concerning that saying, but I guess if one is to live fully, it is a valid point. We have selective memory, so if we focus on the good, we are ahead of the game.
Knowing the end was close, if not gone, (Great ending.)

Nice. We learn nothing from avoidance. Better to have loved indeed, than to cower in the safety of unexplored territory. The heart should recover from the hurt and find new truth. Cheers - DJ

Sometimes that's the truth of it - it's time to move on. Once the game is being played for the onlookers and not for its own sake, the end is as you say "close, if not gone".

Having a broken heart really does feel like cold and emptiness. That was the perfect picture to go with the poem, and unfortunately, love is a game we tend to play and not always win

Our heart may get broken. It may take some time to heal. But, love will come again and yes indeed we will move on. Sometimes it's for the better.

Ah...cold indeed. It is amazing how a womans heart can blaze like the Sahara, and then turn as cold as the Artic in such short order. This captures the emotion well. Great job and good luck as you move on.

We live on indeed! Sometimes it seems like we can't in the beginning but at the end of the day we have no choice. And it eventually gets better. Your poem was great and so well put together. I enjoyed reading it

Courage to have loved and lost, courage to face the truth that love was gone. This is a great poem about love lost. In a few words you have captured the essence of the trials of love. Well done.

"We Live On" It is indeed better to have loved and lost, than not to have loved at all. This is what love between two people is all about. It is found suddenly, and sometimes lost even faster. Well done.

The author is writing about a love the loss of which he has bravely faced. Not all can face such a loss with courage. Many "freeze" with indecision where they are. Not knowing what to do, still wondering if what is happening is true, they lose time and oppotunities
