This is a very heart-felt,
touching piece of verse, Gary.
So many suffered in that war
when the Germans invaded. It
doesn't bear thinking about what
would have happened to us all if
Hitler had won. Yet, still we
are fighting, one war after another,
and many of our men/women in the
forces are being taken so young.
I enjoye this altho the one line just doesn't "sit" right.. I think the introduction of one little word and the odd comma for pauses, might well help... What do you think? Yes? No?

A wonderful ode poem to a Grandmother that suffered and had seen war. A moving scene that of shading tears when laying her at rest. All in all, it is a traditional classic poem written from the heart.

I loke the photo
this poem really touch my heart. I love the movement of the poem the way you express what your gearam with through in tjose days lots of people either don
t know or wanr to forget. I'm glad that you shared this little bit of history. If you remember more writemore poem odr a book about it. there is a message within this poem.

You create a vivid picture of a person who could serve as an example for us all; someone who endures great hardship but rather than use that suffering as an excuse - becomes empowered by that experience and reaches out a hand to others. A lovely tribute to someone who clearly made an impact in your life.

A lovely tribute to your gram. Those years were hard, but seems like the older folks were strong and withstood so much more than folks could today.I liked the line...
