Hello JLR
Those were the days when snow meant fun, and hopefully, no school.
These days it means, cold Brrr, stay inside, slippery road and sidewalks.
You've captured much of the fun in Rockwell's painting.
Excellent free verse romp in the snowy memories.
Best wishes,
Robert

Comment from Roxanna Andrews
A very fun poem about the joy of new snow and everyone enjoying a day of sledding with friends. That would be fun. I lived on the desert, we had snow every now and then and it was always a thrill. Well done.

-I like the picture for the challenge.
-You wrote an excellent poem
to go with it.
-It creates a vivid word
picture as you get ready
to frolic in the snow.
-Excellent detail, like
"a plop in the snow" and
"the red sled that sped."
-Effective imagery and rhyme, too.
-A very good concluding verse, as well.
-I think you like snow a lot!!
-Well done.

You are very welcome and deserving of the stars and review, Jim. You did a lot with it poetically, as well as describing a fun time.
Comment from Wendy G
A great poem for children. It captures the excitement of waking up on a snowy morning, and experiencing all the fun and pleasure that snow can bring. Well written.

Comment from Eternal Muse
You don't know how much I loved this picture, here, in the deserts of Nevada! (lol). I often miss snow, though don't miss shoveling it. Wonderful imagery and visuals; I can picture myself among these kids, sliding off the snowy hill.
Amazing visuals, indeed.
This poem brought a lot of light and joy into my room, thank you.

Eternal Muse, I have friends who live at Lake Havasu who also used to be devote skiers, they do miss the slopes from time to time.

What a wonderful interpretation you have chosen for this picture challenge! Snow days are the best when you're a child. And I can just hear the laughter as they sled down the hill. Great job. Most enjoyable read.

June, thanks very much!

This comparison with draw the reader in: "The red sled, which sped faster than the blue toboggan". The reader will be invited what was their fastest ride down the hill. Depending upon their era, they will name something different. Well thought out.

Not only does the photograph paint a perfect picture for your poem, but your well crafted poem is full of imagery that completes the poetic package. Well done.
