Yes, an understandably sad time - is it possible for you to Zoom with them all? Many of the traditions have been set in place to bring delight to children. They are however always in our hearts and for the moment we need to find other ways to share the love.

Wendy, yes we will zoom, all the families together --the big loss is that this grandpa is such a hugger, that is what is the biggest loss.

Yes I understand. And nothing can replace a wonderful meaningful hug.

'Bedecked, but for Naught', is an extremely well-written and heart- wrenching piece. Penned with craft and skill. It was a pleasure to both read and review this talented poet's work. I look forward to seeing your next post.

Wonderful club entry for the "Merry Christmas" event in "Picture This" challenge. I understand how you feel. I can't see my adult children and granddaughters. It's very hard but we must stay safe. Next year will be better. Well done.

Comment from Eternal Muse
Your Christmas spirit is emanating from every line. There is magic in the air; the visuals are so great, I imagine myself in that living room, in front of a glittering tree, inhaling the aroma of Christmas.
Excellent response to the club's challenge. Happy Holidays!

It's a Christmas we'll all remember, and it's sad not to be together, but it's for the best. I'm so thankful to be alive right now, and know that better times are coming. Thanks for sharing what many are feeling. :)

Boogienights, the fact that is overlooked is that YES are still alive! That in and of itself is a blessing among many. May your days be filled with the Highest and Best the Master has to offer you today Christmas eve, 2020

This is a poignant poem. Many readers will sadly, identify with your grieving. This year will definitely feel emptier this year. Many feelings will be felt by your readers, probably as many as there are people. Thank you.

Nicely done. You've captured the spirit of this 2020 Christmas: all dressed up and no place to go (or receive!) We're all left with nothing to do but "reminisce of memories that flare."
I'm glad you've taken up writing.

A great way to run through the list of what all we do at Christmas and then to end with the emphasis on just the two of you and no grandchildren. What a difference that makes to the joy of Christmas! Good writing!

JLR,
OH, NO! That would be a tragedy. For sure! The rest of the poem set such a sweet and nostalgic mood... I was not ready for the closing! But the poem was well done anyway. Please send this to the fam away?
