A sweet story for this contest. Grandmothers seem to have such patience for grandkids. The little girl got quite a science lesson while out collecting tomatoes. Good luck with the contest~

thanks so much. I used to write stories for kids, and they ask a lot of questions.

Some of the description in this piece is excellent, e.g. the ladybug, and the childs perception of the different garden inhabitants comes across very clearly. The ending of the story could be strengthened slightly I feel.

yeah, you're probably right but am devoid of an idea as to how. she could get stung by a bee and be allergic and.... no, let's see, grandmother could give her a coffee bean and say it's magic and the child could plant it and... (just kidding) it's too late, but you're right, the ending is weak.

This lovely post is a gentle reminder that children learn so much about nature by slowly exploring it with some-one older and wise. A well-written story. Good wishes for your entry.

thank you so much. I miss those days. Granddaughter just turned 22!
Now she's explaining things to me! ;) I am not technically blessed.

What a perfect story for this contest. Love how the grandmother is so patient with the little girl's questions, and is teaching her so much about nature and about being gentle and kind.

How sweet and innocent. Grandma and the granddaughter learning about nature and sharing the day. Beautifully written and very touching too. Have a great day! Smiles, Carol

thanks, Carol. Had to smile. Usually sweet and innocent isn't my style, but have to throw in a shocker every once in a while.

That's right! Sort of like me with the horror story... I got told they preferred my other stories not getting scared to death. The joys of writing...Smiles

This was a charming little story! It was fun to read and I could picture the grandmother and granddaughter out in the garden talking about these creatures. as a large fan of education, your story also had an educational aspect that would urge an interested child to ask for more information. Well written and fun. Thank you for sharing. Hugs.
